WHY THE CICADA?

The cicada doesn’t evolve on impulse. It emerges (usually in June) sometimes after more than a decade underground, where it waits, preparing.When the timing is right, it climbs out, updward, and anchors onto something stable.

Then, it splits its old shell down the back and exits the shell slow and controlled.The process is demanding, and if interrupted, the consequences are catastrophic. Once it’s out, it waits, patient and still, while the new version of itself hardens.

This final form—the imago—is bright, beautiful and bold. It is the embodiment of the cicada's long preparation. There are no shortcuts in this metamorphosis; the demands are non-negotiable, but the reward is a form that exists only because of the journey.
